History

Victoria Park West was built by  owner/operator Ted DeCorso. Originally a small family farm, retired barber Ted DeCorso and architect Renee Muiliart designed and built the course you see today.  The Par 61 Executive course covering 3700 yards opened on July 6, 1967.  The club has grown considerably over the years and now accommodates 35,000 rounds of golf with banquet facilities for over 370 guests.

Future Plans for Victoria Park Golfing

In March 2005, an application was submitted to the City of Guelph for an official zone amendment. This would allow for a nine-hole golf community which has now been revised.

At the present, the province and municipalities have pushed for higher density housing in turn eliminating the nine-hole golf course allowing only a housing development. Upon re-submission, the new plans are ready to viewed by the city of Guelph with the anticipation of approvals to proceed with the project.

Victoria Park Golf Club West will be fully operational for 2010 – 2011.

 New Executive Golf Course Up-Date

With the plans for a new executive golf course at Victoria and Maltby Rd. in place, we are happy to have received a zoning change to allow for a golf course and are now awaiting site plan approvals.

To date we have started some preliminary tree removal work and we have imported topsoil on to the site.

Being a replacement for the West course, a time line on a projected opening date is uncertain due to necessary revisions made to the plans for the development of the West Course Property.

Our plans are still to have the new course up and operational before the West course closes, therefore offering our customers an uninterrupted place to golf.

We will keep you informed as the project continues to move forward.
